My great‑grandfather’s brass glasses may have looked just like this on a dark night lit only by candle flame. I often wonder what he saw through them — what the world looked like to him, and whether he could have imagined the world as it is now. These glasses have traveled through time, carrying stories I’ll never fully know, yet still offering their quiet presence.
In this intimate drawing, an antique pair of brass glasses emerges only where the candlelight touches them. The warm reflections are rendered in colored pencil on richly textured natural paper, allowing the fibers of the surface to hold the shadows and the unlit spaces.
Rather than outlining the full form, the drawing captures only the glints of brass that caught the candle’s glow. The rest is left intentionally unseen, inviting the viewer to complete the shape in their own imagination. What remains is a moment suspended between light and absence — a study in how little is needed for the mind to recognize what the heart already knows.
The original drawing is available for purchase, and high‑quality prints are offered for those who wish to bring this candlelit study into their own space.
