Rose-Tinted Guardian

I’ve always loved this planter — its soft rose color, its glossy surface, and especially its cheerful smile. Every morning it greets me as it cradles the small pilea plant that quietly cleans the air around me, and I can’t help but smile back with a moment of gratitude. Creating the drawing, however, was a different story. I’ve pushed myself with each new piece, and this one brought its own set of challenges: the curved porcelain surface, the shifting glaze, the reflections that demanded precision and patience. I’m grateful for the growth it brought… even if some of that gratitude arrived through clenched teeth.
A small pilea plant rises from a Hawaiian totem‑faced ceramic pot, its surface glowing in soft shades of pink. The pot’s carved smile radiates warmth, a gentle guardian supporting the tender leaves above. The interplay of glossy foliage and sculpted ceramic creates a quiet dialogue between nature and craft — living growth embraced by human artistry. Rendered in colored pencil, the piece highlights subtle reflections and textures, inviting viewers to linger on overlooked details. More than a portrait of plant and vessel, the work embodies protection and joy, a reminder of the quiet guardianship found in everyday beauty.
Explore the piece to experience the tender harmony between crafted form and living green.
