Cavalier King Charles Pup

I had just begun my colored pencil art class and knew almost nothing about the medium. My teacher was introducing me to the basics — simple lines, color combinations, small exercises meant to build foundation. After finishing the assigned homework, I decided to give myself an assignment of my own. I had a photo of my parents’ beloved pup and wanted to see if I could capture his handsome face. He’s a lover, that boy.
I brought the drawing to class, not thinking much of it. My teacher was surprised — pleasantly, but also with the realization that my homework was about to change. In one leap, I had graduated myself from the kindergarten of colored pencil to the high school level, ready or not.
